As the rule says, the ARC card should have at least 6 months remaining validity. Thus, I am afraid that you may not get the Chinese visa to visit China for one week. If you really want to visit China, you may go to Japan or HK to apply for it.

Yes, there is a transit type G. If you transit in Beijing or Shanghai for less than 72 hours, visa is not required.
