About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a transit permit

I'm arriving in Shanghai's Pu Dong international airport and departing within 6 hours after my landing at Hongqiao. This means that I'll need to exit the airport. Do I need to apply for the transit permit?

Yes, you need to get it after arrival at Pudong Airport.

Dear Alan,

Think twice about your transit time.... 6 hours is not much to travel van Pudong to Hongqiao.
arrange your permit go through customs in Shanghai and collect luggage takes me at least around 2hours (internation flights) fastest taxi to hongqiao 1,5hour. going to be tight in my opinion.... just to give you some heads up.
