About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

13-hour layover in Beijing.

Hello, I have a 13-hour layover. I found a tour guide and want to leave the airport for a few hours. I called my airline and they sent me a form and said it has to be filled out and given to the airline upon my departure, and then I will get a temporary free stay permit and passport stamp. However, I have been told four different things by four different airline agents, so I'm naturally nervous. Is this correct and is there ANYTHING else I have to do? The CIBT Service office doesn't know. Thank you!!

Hi, after filling out the form, your airline will send your arrival information via email in advance to the Entry Frontier Organization at airport for your 72 hr free transit application. Then after arrival, you will be led to a special counter to fill up the entry registration card and get your 72 hours free visa stay permit.

Thank you, Alex. But where do I fill out this form? Is it on my flight to Beijing (I fly from Phuket to Beijing on Air China) so do I fill it out at the Air China counter in Phuket? Not sure how far in advance I need to do this and when I asked the airline I got several different responses. Thank you!!!!

If you have already got this form, just fill it in advance and give it to the airline when you board the plane. Air China should be clear on this issue.
