Lost Chinese Passport

My daughter was born in China. We adopted her and brought her here. We are planning to return soon on a visit but I seem to have misplaced her Chinese passport( required to be turned in order to obtain a visa). Can I get a replacement Passport or have waver stating the it is lost/misplaced. Thank you for and help and information. Stephen Leong

Is it the first time for her to apply for Chinese visa with US passport? if yes, her old passport is required. Do you have a copy of her birth certificate? you may need to contact the embassy or consulate directly for this.

Please tell me what you did about the missing Chinese passport. We're in the same situation and don't know what to do. Yikes!
