is this a valid itinerary for 72 hour visa free transit permit?

I will be flying HongKong to Beijing on June 27 and leaving from Beijing to Newark NJ on June 28.  How do I arrange for free travel permit?  Do I need to advise HongKong airline of intention of needing one?

Yes, you can take advantage of this free transit, so just inform HK airline about the transit permit request so that they will report your need to the airport before landing.
