What kind of Visa do I need and how do I obtain I have a Canadian passport

I have a Chinese girl friend and I want to visit every few months to see here for a few weeks

You should apply for a L type one. If possible, you can apply for a multiple entry one from the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country.
