About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I visit Suzhou on the 72 hrs transit visa from Shanghai?

I will make use of the 72 hr free transit in Shanghai on my way to Taiwan, but can anybody confirm whether or not I may visit Suzhou during that time? It seems that travel agencies offer trips to there for 72 hr free transit passengers. On the other Hand, Suzhou is not part of Shanghai, if I read the maps correctly. Can anybody help me solve the puzzle?

Theoretically you can't visit suzhou as the regulation forbid you to go out of Shanghai, but as long as you do not stay overnight in Suzhou, I don't think there will be any problems, as there are no boby ask you to show your visa when visiting scenic spots. Only when you check into a hotel you are required to show passport.
