About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Can I make a trip to hong kong without applying for a new visa?

I have a 1 year, z type one valid until September 2013. It has one entry on it and I am currently living in China. So I presume that that means I would have to reapply which sounds like a really shitty situation. is there anyway around that?

As far as I know, foreigners who hold Z type need to apply for the resident permit in 30 days when they arrive in China. Do you get your resident permit? If so, you needn't reapply for one when you come back from HK to mainland China again (make sure that you come before the resident permit expires).
