Is the G visa still necessary?

Now that there is the new 72-hour free transit rule, does the G visa still exist and if so what for? Thanks

Yes, it exists. It is applicable for passengers who transit through other cities except Beijing and Shanghai. And passengers who plan to stay longer than 72 hours in Beijing and Shanghai.
