Are foreigners eligible for multiple entry?

I am American. I received my Chinese visa today but it was only valid for one entry. When I applied I told the consulate I needed to make multiple trips to China and they said ok. Now they are saying foreigners aren't eligible for multiple entry. Is this accurate?

It is not true, but multiple entry has special requirements. May I know what is the visa type? L or F?

Hi I am married to chinese and living in shanghai Well this is weird there is nothing like that but if the officer says or makes that decisions nobody can help it depends on the district u live. I have a friend married to chinese he is in ningbo i renewed my family L type ones for 2 times 6 months with 1 entry he even for the first got for 3 months with 1 entry he was shock, so it depends on where u live rules are different . I went back to my country and renewed it and got for 6 months multiple as everybody can renew only for 2 times in china even ur married to chinese unless u translate it for chinese not a problem.
