About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

2 Chinese Airports

I'm a UK passport holder with a flight from Hong Kong - Xian - Shanghai - UK, the total time in China is less than 24 hours but do I need a transit visa as I'm going through 2 Chinese airports?

Visa is not required for you to transit even through 2 airports if the stay is less than 24 hours in total, but you are not allowed to leave the transit area during stopovers and you are required to apply for a stay permit after arrival at Xian airport.
