Would like to get to ST city in the shortest and most economical way within a dayIs it possible??(to and from)

It is so hurry to do a one day return trip between the two cities.  There is no direct flight between them and it take over 8 hours by train. The best way is by the direct bus. It takes about 4.5 hours.
