apply for chinese z visa from japan?

Hi Everyone,Does anyone have any experience applying for a Z type one from Japan? I am a Canadian living in Japan, but can't seem to get a straight answer if I can apply for the visa here, or if I have to do it back in Canada. (My official country of residence). If anyone has experience doing this, I would greatly appreciate any information.                                   Thank you!
