yunnan altitute problem serious?

Hi, I need some travelling advise to Yunnan.  Heard that the altitute problem is serious, is it true?  How to overcome?  I play to travel in May.  thanks.

The average altitude is around 1900m and I did not feel sick when I traveled there. The weather there is fine and the oxygen is adequate, so I do not think it is a problem and I did not heard about the altitude sickness in Yunnan.
