Which place to stay @ Shanghai

Hello. I'm going to the city next month and seeing 2 places to choose to stay; one is SSAW hotel near Yu Yuan Garden metro station, another is Blue Mountain Bund Youth Hostel near East Nanjing metro. The reviews said I can walk to the metro in few minutes from both places, but when I saw the map I doubt which route could walk easier. Also the surroundings and safety of the areas. Anyone used to stay at these places have suggestions? Thanks a lot! :)
