About:Chinese Embassies in Oceania

I am an Iranian with Australian passport , requiring visa for china trip on way to Australia

I am an Iranian citizen lived and worked in Australia for 30 years, I am Australian citizen with Australian passport. I am visiting family now in Iran returning to Australia. En route I like to visit my brother who is an English citizen and a teacher who lives in China. Would you be able to answer these questions please
Can I get a visa on my Australian Passport in Iran? What is the fee, and how long will it be valid? I have a letter of invitation from my brother. Do I need an official invitation if I get one on my Australian passport? which Iran issues at a cost of $140?
Thank you

No, you can only apply with your Iranian passport if you have it. Fee is $30 for a single entry, and it is valid for 3 months from issue date. Official invitation letter is not necessary.

Thank you for your very kind and prompt reply. If you are right then why (the Iranian staff) at the Chinese embassy in Tehran told me categorically I have to have an official invitation letter, issued by a travel agent in Iran (who by the way ask me to fill no form,) at a fee of $140, and also told me that the fee, one entry will cost me $100? (when you say no invitation letter is necessary and that fee is $30?) Why such discrepancy? Who am I to believe?
I await your kind reply

If you apply for family visit, you may provide an invitation letter from your brother instead. The letter issued by a travel agency is required if you visit for peronal travel only. $100 is for US passport holders, so please contact the consular office of Chinese embassy directly for confirmation of this.
