Internship - denied a F visa

Hi,
I have a internship lasting for 5 months starting the 18 of March.
I am currently in HK where I want to apply for my visa.
I went to the office today, but got rejected a business F because I am not a Hong Kong residence, they said I cannot get a 6 month multy-entry, is that true? The company is Swedish.

Thank you in advance.

If you plan to stay in China a long time, you had better apply a Z visa.
