L visa renewal in China

Hello, I currently live in Guangzhou with a year long L multiple entry 60 day visa but my visa validity will expire April 20th of this year. I have called around to some agencies and been told the best I can do is either get a 1 month extension or go back to USA to apply for a new year long multiple entry visa. Someone also offered to get me a 1 year L visa with 90 day duration for 6,400 rmb but that was just insane considering I can pay 9,000 and go see my family for a month while I get one in USA. So my question is, is there any way to obtain a 1 year L visa with 90 or 60 day duration while in China without paying a ridiculous price? Or am I going to have to start looking for airplane tickets?

I think you should go back to the US and apply for a new one if you don't want to pay so much money to the agency.
