accommodation in Jinghong

I was in Jinghong in 1985 and stayed at an old hotel (for foriegners)overlooking the river,within walking distance to the town centre through a local market, it was very quiet and cheap.I'm intersted in finding out if such a place still exists and how much it would cost per night for 'backpacker style' hotel accommodation. I also went down the river to Laos,burma area but would like to go to Thailand this time,if travel in the area is as unrestricted and costs reasonable, I would like to travel (June-july) Also any Australian that has received or been knocked back for a visa recently could you fill me in on the details....
