F Visa Renewal

I am currently a holder of an F visa, living in Shanghai and am coming on holiday to Cambodia when my Visa expires, will I be able to get a new one from Cambodia or must I go through Hong Kong? ( I am a UK passport holder and have an invitation letter from a company in Shanghai)

I heard that applicants who apply in the third country are required to show their resident permit. However, I didn't find it on the website of Chinese embassy in Cambodia. It requires the applicants to offer the invitation letter. You may try to apply for it in Cambodia. If you fail, then you have to apply for it in HK.
