About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

For previous question. My trip is Narita, Beijing, Urumpi then Dushanbe/Tjikistan.

Sorry I did not mention my final destination. My trip is from Japan to Tajikistan. China is just a transit.

I understood 72 hours new rule at Peking, and Shanghai airports for 45 countries' people. I am a Japanese Passport holder and will fly from Narita to Peking and have 30 hours lay over at Peking(transfer to Urumqi). According to the 72 hours rule, I don't need a transit visa but Chinese Embassy insists 24 hours rule. Do I need a transit visa?

Hi, since you need to transfer to Urumqi, you need a transit visa. For your situation, it is not applicable for the 72-Hour Visa-free policy.

I am totally confused. I think I will get a 72 hours visa free status at BJ. Then flying to Urmpi for 3 hours layover then Dushanbe. Do I need transit visa?

You are right. No visa is needed for your 30h stayover at Beijing. Since you just stop over at Urumqi fo 3h, you don't need a visa as long as you don't get out of the airport.
