Hello, does my son USA citizen need a bank statement for visa?

Our 17 year old son (American citizen) has been staying with friends in Bangladesh and before traveling back to the USA would like to visit with some other USA friends in China for a few weeks. They will provide a letter of invitation in Mandarin. Is a bank statement required for this as he is both a minor and visiting with friends?

Hi, your son will stay in his friends' place, right, if he has invitation letter from them, a return ticket to USA is necessary. Bank statements are required for Bangladeshi applicants as they have to apply group tourist visa to China. Anyway, you can furtherly confirm this with Chinese embassy directly.
