About:Chinese Embassy in New Zealand

NZ passport live remote Western Australia need Chinese visa quickly

If I have to go to Perth to consulate for visa it would take me a day driving to get there, have to stay in hotel, going on cruise and ship wont let me board without visa for two day stopover in Shanghai even if I don't get off the ship!

Yes, it is true, you need visa to China if you visit China by cruise even if you don't get off the ship. If you can not submit visa application to the Consulate in person, please entrust someone else or a travel agency to submit on your behalf and request rush service as you need it quickly. Mail application is not acceptable anyway.
