The most well-known sections of the Great Wall are at Beijing. Well, Badaling and Mutianyu sections are both worth visiting.
At the first place, you need to travel from Shanghai to Beijing. Bullet trains between will take you to Beijing South Railway Station, where you can transfer to subway line 4 and you need to get off at Xizhimen. Then a taxi can take you to Deshengmen directly. If you wanna visit Badaling section, at Deshengmen, you can take bus no. 919, 880 or 877 to reach directly.
If you wanna visit Mutianyu section, upon arrival at Beijing South Railway Station, you need to take subway line 4 to Xuanwumen Station, where you can transfer to subway line 2 to Dongzhimen. At Dongzhimen, Tourism Bus No. 867 can take you to Mutianyu directly.
As for the fare, the subway fare for each transfer is CNY2. Bus no.919, 880 or 877 costs CNY12 per person and CNY4.8 per person if you have Transportation Smart Card. Bus no. 867 costs CNY13.
