Postal facilities from Shanghai

Traveling in June, wish to know if I can post parcels back to Australia? Also what days and hours post offices are open? Where are post offices situated? And do I need to register parcels?
Also have been reading your question/answers and it appears that the postal service is very slow. Is this usual? And if sending back to Australia what time frame am I looking at for delivery?

Of course, you can post a parcel to Australia in Shanghai.

Generally, different branches of China Post have different operating duration. Most of them open as follows:
8:30-17:00 from Monday to Friday
9:00-16:30 on Saturday and Sunday

Post offices are very easily to be found in Shanghai and there are many branches. I suggest you ask the local person to find the nearest one from your location.

You surely need register the parcel. Anyway, the full procedure will be told by the staff in the post office. Don't worry!

I usually post international parcels with China Post, which is not that slow. My suggestion is that if you want your parcel reached its destinations quickly, you'd better choose airpost.
