About:Dual Nationality

Is it easy to restore Chinese citizenship?

I was born in China, my mother is still live in China. I got US citizenship in 2010. Now I plan to go back to the country and live with my mother. Is there any other way that I can live with my mother in the country?

Hi, it is not that difficult.
Firstly, you need give up your US citizenship because China does not accept dual nationalities.
Then you can get a valid proof to show your China citizenship at Public Security Department of China. Before that, you can go to the local Public Security to apply for citizenship recovery.

Hello Nancy,

Thank you for the help.

I've heard that the US government will not revoke any citizen ship until you already have another citizenship. I just wonder if you have ever know some one did it, was it difficult?

Hi, as you have had Chinese citizenship, it is not that difficult to recover it. Don't worry!

However, you need pepare enough documents for the recovery application. Here are some I know:
1. Application form: if you are abroad, you need go to the local China consulate to get. If you are in China, you can go to the local Public Security Bureau to get that.
2. Written application.
3. The copy of your present passport.
4. Proof of your present nationality ID.
5. Proof that shows you were Chinese citizen once.
And other documents. Detailed information is suggested to be consulted at the corresponding department.

May help!
