mauritius passport renewal

we are currently working in Harbin. And the passport will be expired in Oct 2013. Can we renew the passport here in China? If yes, can we do it by post or we have to go to bejing in person? How long will it takes to get a new passport? What's the necessary documents to bring? Could you please advise.
