Can we get a quick Chinese Tourist Visa from Katmandu

My husband and I have been travelling for 2 and a half months and was unable to get the visa required, prior to leaving the UK. We will be arriving in Katmandu on the 17th Febuary 2013 and are due to fly to Chengdu on the 20th February 2013 at 23.00, to join an organised trip. Please could you advise the best option for us.
