Visa Requirements for HK & Shanghai

My wife (British pp) & I (Aust pp) are cruising in March 2013 visiting Shanghai & terminating in Hong Kong. We do not plan to disembark in Shanghai, but stay aboard, do we still need a Chinese visa, if we do will it be a multi entry?

Thank you

You need to get a single entry Chinese tourist visa if your cruise will dock in Shanghai only within mainland China.
