Canadian living in Germany looking to get a Chinese Visa

Hello, I am wondering if someone can shed some light on this. I am a Canadian living in Germany and I was wondering if I can apply for a tourist visa to China (spening 8 days on a tour) in Germany. I am not a permanent resident on Germany. Do I have to go back to Canada, or post my passport to the Chinese embassy, to apply for the visa? I'm really confused?!?

correction......do I have to go back to Canada, or post my passport to the Chinese embassy in Canada, to apply for the visa?

I am also spending a few days in Hong Kong prior to my China trip. Is it possible to get one there too and if so how many days does it take?

Many thanks for response :)

I went to china 2 years ago,.. and applied for my visa in Hong Kong,... had it the very next day...
Usually there are booths at the airport that will take care of all the paperwork and pics and all.... cost about $160 when everything was said and done.....

Hi, if you do not have a residence permit in Germany, you need to send your application back to Canada. Also, it is possible for you to get a visa in HK, the regular processing takes 4 working days and can be expedited with extra service fee.
