and what is the first bus and how long does it take?  Also do you know where and when the bus from Beihai to Zhanjiang is?

You can go to Zhanjiang Xiashan General Bus Station to take bus to Maoming. The first bus departs at 06:50. The bus duration is about 1.5~2 hours. From Beihai to Zhanjiang, you can go to Beihai General Bus Station to take bus. I remember the bus operates from 06:45 to 14:30.
