im intending to visit a friend in china and i will like to know how to get an invitation letter?

You may just ask your friend to provide you an invation letter which should enclose your full name, gender, date of birth, purpose of visit, date of arriving and leaving China, place of visit, relations between you, financial support during stay in China and the inviter's name, contact number, address and signature.
