Guangzhou airport safety

hi, i'll be arriving the airport at 12.30 am. Is it safe for me to stay at the airport while waiting for metro at 6.10 am?

Do you mean you will arrive Baiyun airport at midnight?
If so, it is safe to stay there and wait for the metro. In my opinion, you can take the airport shuttle bus to reach the city center and then take taxi to reach your hotel.
