About:Hong Kong Airport Express Travel Pass

1 day transit in Hong Kong

Hello

I'll be transiting through HK next week. I have around 7 hours transit time in which I plan to visit HK. Having looked through the different day travel cards/octopus card, I'm still unsure which is the cheapest card/cards to buy to visit HongKong in these 7 hours. I believe the airport express travel card is a must. However, do I buy the airport express travel card which provides me with 3 days on the MTR (which is useless as I'll be visiting for only 7 hours) or do I buy the airport express return journey a tourist day pass? I'm also aware that I wouldn't be able to travel on the MTR bus with either of these cards and probably will need an octopus card??

HELP please this is really confusing. Could you please explain how the airport express works? I mean if I take the express from the airport to Central, then I work my way out (shopping/visiting) and end up in Kawloon. Will I then be able to take the airport express from Kawloon back to the airport???

Thanks.

Hi, as for your case, I suggest you buy the Tourist Day Pass (HK$55), which can be used for 1 day of unlimited travel on MTR (except Airport Express, MTR Bus, East Rail Line First Class, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations).

If you are taking Express Train for round trip, just the round-trip ticket for express train is ok. There is no need to buy the Express Travel Pass.

You can take express train to HK Station and then walk to Central for your further trip. For the back journey, you can certainly take it at Kowloon Station. Take easy!

Thanks for your reply Eileen. I was wondering whether I can buy an airport express return ticket to and from Tsing Yi, then stopping at Tsing Yi and take the MTR (Tung Chung Line) and visit HongKong using an MTR day pass. When I've finished, I return to Tsing Yi by MTR and take the airport express back to the airport from Tsing Yi. Do you think that will work out cheaper? Cheers

Well, yes, John. The way you mentioned is accessible and much cheaper. If you buy express train ticket to and from Tsing Yi, it costs 110HKD for the round-trip. But the round-trip ticket at HK Station costs 180HKD.
