Invitation letter for China visa application in UK

I am travelling to china with my chinese girl friend on a tourist L visa and staying at her apartment for the length of my holiday do i need a invitation letter from her to get it?

Yes, invitation letter is required for application if you will stay in her place without hotel booking.
