It is a special festival of China, which originated from a story of Qu Yuan - the minister of Chu. People in other countries may not know the origin, let alone celebrate that.

Actually, the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated here in Canada in a number of communities - such as Toronto, Vancouver, Sudbury, North Bay, and many others. Our citizens of Chinese decent have brought this wonderful tradition to Canada and we have embraced it with celebration. It has become a wonderful fundraising event for local charities and an opportunity for businesses, sports groups, charities and the like to join in friendly competition. Thousands come each year to these colourful and exciting event.
