I plan on arriving in Yichang at 0940hrs and taking the cruise to Chongqing at 2100hrs is there anywhere I can leave my luggage so I can have a look around the city during the day.

You can store your luggage in the local Three Gorges Tourism Center and then you can have a look about the city then.
