First time travelers to the big city

I will be at Shanghai airport for 11 hours but my flight lands at 4 p.m. Is it safe to travel, to Nanjing road area by taking the subway down. Should I have my winter clothes will it be cold.

Yes, it is generally safe to go to Nanjing Road by subway line 2. Currently, it is cold in the city and winter clothes are needed to keep you warm.
