We will be in Peking in March for 1 day. Can I get a guide for the day to go to Forbbiden City, Sumer Palace and possibly great wall. If so, how much, and do I need to pay anything extra for tansport?

Hi, I had a one-day trip there several weeks ago with my family and a nice travel agency - TravelChinaGuide helped me. They arranged my journey according to my requirements and provide the private tour guide for my family only. You can search their one-day itinerary in the website:
https://www.travelchinaguide.com/package/beijing-one-day-tours.htm
For detailed information covering Forbidden City, Summer Palace and Great Wall, you can consult them by sending an email at travelchinaguide.com|tours

Right, when I traveled, they provided a van. Thus I did not pay extra transport fare, but I had to pay for my dinner.

Well, I dont think prices gonna be much diffrenct with or without tranastportation charges. Consult a good travel agnecy and they can make you get the best value travel package for Peking sightseeing. And, yes, you can even get a personal guide as well. Last year, we too went to China and it was a great place. We been to Forbidden city, Wall of china and several other big attractions. That time, we took services from a local travel service and truth to tell they were really economical that time. So, my advice to you is to take a local tour.
