About:Zhaolin Park

Is the Ice Lantern Festival, Sun Island Carving Festival and the snow world different events?

I am getting confused with the three. Are these all seperate events in different locations? I heard that the Ice Lantern Festival and the Snow World are both in same location? If not where are each of these locations? Will it be difficult to find taxis to and from these events during February?

The Ice and Snow Festival include different kinds of activities and all these activities are scattered in different parks or places. All these parks are not far from each other, so the taxi can be easily get.
The Snow World is at Sun Island and the Lantern Festival will be in Zhaolin Park and there is about 11 kilometers between the two places.
Hope it can help you.

The full name of the overall event is the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival. There are three venues that make up this event.

The smallest venue is the park where they have the Ice Lantern Garden Party.

The next larger venue is the Sun Island Scenic Area. I believe that the proper name of this portion of the event is the International Snow Sculpture Art Exposition although I might have misunderstood something.

The largest venue and the one that you're most likely to have seen pictures of is the Ice and Snow World. This venue is relatively close to the Sun Island Scenic Area. I can't find a map with enough detail to tell whether it is on Sun Island or just near the island.

I found taxis to be a problem from both the Sun Island Scenic Area and Ice and Snow World venues. There aren't many of them and they overcharge. You're better off taking a bus into town and getting a taxi there. It appears that taxis are only allowed to pick up at specific taxi stands in Harbin. Apparently, you can't flag one down just anywhere. I don't know how to identify a taxi stand unless there are a bunch of taxis there. Also, don't expect a taxi driver to speak English. You'll need to have your destination written in Chinese to show the driver.
