weather in feb 2013 in Kunming

hi i am arriving at KM on 10/2/2013.how is the weather and does the shop on chinese lunar new year? how the tourist destination? it is very crowd? kindly advise me

Hi, it will be a little cold at that time. The average temperature will be around 10C. So the autumn clothes as well as one or two warm clothes are suggested to be taken along.
During that peorid, many large shopping malls will be still open. So there is no need to worry about that. For many small or mddle-level stores and shops, they will close for about 3 days.
The attractions there will still be open to the public at thatb time. In addition, some celebration activities may also be held at some attractions.

Temperature expected around 17 deg C. For you and me better bring a winter coat as we are used to 32 deg C temp in M'sia and Spore. Also umbrella as it can rain. Shops never close on CNY. Shops are manned by people from other provinces and they work to earn extra money. So go and splurgh your money freely. I am going 3/1. Look for night markets stalls and savor the local food. Avoid restaurants. Stay in 2 star hotel is enough. Take taxis as they are cheaper then in M'sia and Spore. If you can read chinese, then take the bus. Its clean air con and only CNY2 from one end to other. You get to see eveything. Good luck
