Visa for ancestry research in China

My father came from China to Singapore many years ago before Singapore's independence. He married my mother, who gave birth to us, his children. He has already past away a few years back. I want to go to China to research for my ancestry root. Is there a way for me to apply for long visa to stay in China to do my research on my China ancestry?

Hi, I think you can only apply for a tourist L visa for this purpose. Generally, it allows a stay of 30 days as duration, but you can extend it twice within China with 30 days each. So, totally 90 days.
