I am a Nigerian currently visiting my wife in Burundi. She holds a valid Z visa

can I accompany her to china if her company sends me a duly authorized invitation. Also can I apply in Burundi ?
My wife tells me that upon arrival in China , I can have the Z visa changed into a family visa for the duration of her work permit. Kindly confirm.
