how do i get to the canton towers by metro?

I am studying at the Sun Yat-sen University on 135 Xingang Road west. Is it possible to get to the tower by metro or is it easier to travel by bus?  If by bus, which one do I take from the Guangzhou East Bus Station?

You can take subway line 8 from Sun Yat-sen University and transfer to subway line 3 at Kecun. Then get off at Chigangta, you will find the Canton Tower. Do you mean the bus station nearby the Eat Train Station by 'East Bus Station'?
