About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

Is there an hourly hotel in the transit zone at Pudong Airport?

Im from Germany and I'm going to arrive at the airport at 7:00 a.m. My departure for Melbourne ist at 8.15 p.m. According to my travel agent Im not allowed to leave the transit zone is that correct? I read something about the Motel168. Is it possible for me to use this hotel during my transit stay ?

Best regards,

Hi, although there is indeed an hourly lounge in the airport, but you can surely go out of the airport to the Motel 168.
Actually, German are allowed to go out of the airport for free visa within 48h by now and you will be exempt from visa within 72 since Jan. 1th, 2013. You can get detailed information on the website:

Dear Lisa,

thank you for your reply. So did I get this correctly, the Motel168 is not located in the transit zone? And what is it about this hourly lounge in the airport you mentioned, is it possible to have a shower there or rent a whole room? Do you know anything about the prices for a few hours at the Motel168? Do I have to get the free Visa or can I just leave the airport without any documents?

Regards, Pascal

That's correct. The Motel 168 is not in the airport. But you can find the hourly lounge at the Transfer Level of the main terminal building. You need to provide your boarding pass before checking in. The hourly lounge costs CNY60 for 4h stay and CNY360 for 5-24h in a standard room and a suit room costs CNY80 for 4h stay and CNY480 for 5-24h. I am not sure whether you can have a shower or not. So maybe you need consult further.

There are many Motel 168 branches. I think the Motel 168 on the Bund is most convenient for you. It costs CNY180-200 per night and the hourly price is not clear.

Just show your valid passport, visa of your destination country and connecting flight ticket, and you can go out of the airport directly.

Hi Emily,

thank you for your reply. However, it would be most important for me to take a shower between flights, so are there any possibilities at the airport?
Thank you in advance.
