About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Do I need a transit visa (G-visa)? Even when I stay behind customers.

I am flying from Kathmandu to Kunming and than to Vientiane (Laos). Do I need it to arrange it in advance or can I get a visa at the airport of Kunming? I'm arriving on 21:00 hours and have the next flight the next day 16:00 hours to Laos.

Then you will stop at Kunming for less than 24 hours, but will you plan to go out of the airport during the transit?

I won't go out of the airport. Kunming is just a stop to travel further to go to Vientiane (Laos).

Visa is not required then.
