About:Chinese Embasy in Ireland

We have heard mixed reports in whether we need a visa or not and now fear we have left it too late.

Hi, I'm an Irish passport holder living in NZ. Heading home for Christmas with my partner and on the way back we have a stopover in Shanghai for 21hours. We will be leaving the airport to stay in a hotel for the night and were hoping to see the city. Any help would be great, thanks.

Yo have to apply for a China transit visa for this, since Irish passport holders are not included in the 30 countries are permitted to transit Shanghai for up to 48 hours without a visa.

Thable Alice! How can we apply for this and do we need to submit our passports in order to do so? We are traveling back to Ireland on Thursday so wondering if we should do it here in NZ or at home. Thank you.

If you are Irish passport holder, you should apply for the visa from the China Embassy in Ireland. The required documents include yor passport, filled application form, one recent taken passport standard photo and the flight ticket to the third destination after Shanghai.
