changing plains in China

I’m from the USA and have a residence VISA for Taiwan. My wife will be traveling on a Taiwanese Republic Of China passport. Will we have any problems changing planes in communist China? We don’t plan on leaving the airport…? We are flying from Taiwan to the USA for vacation and it's less money this year to fly through China comparied to Tokyo... I have always conected through Tokyo... thank you

Do you mean change planes in the airport? if yes, your wife needs to provide Permit for Taiwan Residents to and from Mainland China or a Travel Permit of People’s Republic of China with six months validity or longer.
