About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

My passport expiring 7 Aug 2013 and I intend to go Hangzhou 11 Jan 2013 (for 5 days).

The travel agent says I need to have more than 7 months validity on my passport to visit China or else I will not be allowed to exit China. Is this true?

It is not true. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months when you apply for a China visa. If you will visit in Jan 11, you can apply in this November or December.
