Getting a work visa in Thailand for a Canadian

I am travelling to China to teach at a university. I plan to travel in Thailand first. The university will send a letter of invitation to work. What would I need to do to get my visa?

Hi, generally the Chinese visa is valid for 3 months, you can apply in advance before leaving for Thailand. It is troublesome to apply in a third country now according to China visa regulation. For work Z, you need to provide invitation letter and work permit from China.

When you say troublesome what do you mean? The university will provide all that.

I mean you may be asked to provide valid residence permit or proof that you work in Thailand if you want to apply there. Chinese embassy does not issue visas to temporary visitors. Not the documents for Z itself.
